Our Vision
For Coaches, By Coaches ….. promoting and strengthening the reputation of football in Australia, and the reputation of Australian football on the world stage’.
Objectives
The objectives of FCA are to:
- set professional standards – Leadership & Aspirational Values & High Performance,
- represent and provide a collective voice for Australian Professional Football Coaches,
- organise and provide continuing ‘re-validation’ professional development activities for Australian Professional Football Coaches,
- provide opportunities for Australian Professional Football Coaches to contribute intellectually to football decision-making that impacts on their role,
- lobby for representation on the decision-making and operational bodies of football in Australia, including without limitation representation at the FFA Congress, to ensure FCA can work collaboratively with all football stakeholders (FFA/FFA/HAL/WWL/State Premier Leagues),
- develop collaborative alliances/Memorandum of Understandings (MoU’s) with key Australian football stakeholders – APFCA, AAFC, PFA, AFAA, Member Federations and with overseas football coaching associations,
- actively pursue research to establish performance, expertise, development and wellbeing needs of professional coaches,
- organise and provide access to mental health wellbeing services,
- provide access to legal advocacy and education,
- organise and provide access to future financial planning advice and services to Australian professional football coaches,
- to support and align with the development and incorporation of future state and regional community coaching associations to significantly increase networking and mentoring opportunities for coaches.
These objectives shall be pursued on a global scale.

FCA aims to:
- Develop a “Football Coaches Australia” Code of Conduct,
- Demonstrate leadership qualities that are in line with FCA standards,
- Identify best practice from other organisations,
- Develop ‘collegiate culture’ (defining FCA ‘norms’ & ‘professional standards’),
- Mechanisms for ‘sanction’ when a coach breaks the code,
- Act always in a professional manner that is considered acceptable by the FCA.
- Establish and drive a commercially sustainable organisation that meets the representation, ‘collective voice’, legal advocacy, professional development and wellbeing needs of Australian professional football coaches.
- In partnership with all football stakeholders, ensure FCA and its members are dedicated to promoting and strengthening the reputation of football in Australia, and the reputation of Australian football on the world stage.
- Ensure that it is an ethical, transparent and accountable organisation acting in the best interest of football.
- Coaches will, at all times, adhere to the regulations, policies and guidelines which underpin football’s (FFA’s) integrity framework include the following:
- FFA Coaches Code of Ethics
• FFA National Anti-Doping Policy
• FFA Sports Supplements and Medication Guidelines
• FFA National Code of Conduct
• FFA Sports Betting and Match Fixing Guidelines - To implement world leading benchmarks, programs and practices to enhance the best practice and high-performance capabilities of Australian professional football coaches and players.
- To ensure members attain and maintain the required FFA Coaching Licence qualifications as set out by the governing body for a given position.
- Provide unified public support for members of the FCA.
Collective Voice
“Represent and provide a ‘collective voice’ for Australian Professional and Community Football Coaches.”
Football Coaches Australia objective is to:
- Lobby for representation on the decision-making and operational bodies of Football Federation Australia Ltd (FFA), including without limitation representation at the FFA Congress.
- Represent and provide a ‘collective voice’ for Australian Professional Football Coaches:
- Discuss issues within our game internally to form an FCA opinion,
- Ensure the security of internal discussions/opinions on issues in the game,
- Present a unified public FCA message once agreed upon internally.
- Establish mechanism for distilling the many coach voices into one collective voice:
- Determine responsibilities of representatives speaking on behalf of FCA,
- Within FCA commit to a code of solidarity.
- Provide opportunities for Australian Professional Football Coaches to pro-actively contribute intellectually to football decision-making that impacts on their role.
- This could include greater representation and involvement with FFA/HAL/WWL/State Premier Leagues for all decisions regarding coaching i.e.:
- trends of the game including tactical trends,
- competition matters,
- refereeing & rules discussions,
- issues involving coaches on the touchline,
- agreements with broadcasters and media,
- coaching education programmes offered,
- minimum FFA coaching licenses required at certain levels,
- media and sponsorship commitments.
- Provide communication/social media platform(s) to promote FCA updates/stories: FCA Media releases post FCA events/FCA statements publicised in media.
- Promote FCA position on ‘issues and incidents’ in the sphere of professional coaching. The football community and media to be aware that there is a body that can be consulted to give the professional coaches’ collective opinion.
